“Hi there! I’m Mel, the person who runs the exotic creatures stand!! I sell all sorts of creatures. This month, I’ve got a lot of new ones I’ve found in the woods. What role are you? Mage, Guardian, or Healer? I can match an animal with you better if I know!!” Mel winked.
Mel smiled. “That’s understandable! I’ve got an animal I just found yesterday, the slytheyin.” Mel pointed to the container below her, full of water. “It’s a water snake and they make extremely well bonds with their owners. They stay in the water, but follow you wherever you go whether you want them to follow you from the ocean and come up the stream, or you can keep it safe since you are a Water Mage and can provide water to them. They are natural born fighters so if you ever need help on the battlefield, use your water to direct a path, and they’ll swim over and attack the person. They can only survive out of water for two minutes though and then they die. Oh, and this slytheyin, a male, is 40 tolkens since he’s a smaller one of his species.” Mel smiled again. “We’ve got a female too, that’s 50 tolkens. I’m willing to bargain though.”
Mel stopped to think. “A cool water bubble to display my female slytheyin? Sounds like a deal to me! Would you umm, want to,” Mel gestured to Dahlia. “Use your powers to keep him with you?”
“Awesome! It’s a deal.” Dahlia nods. “I would like to keep this little guy with me. It might be a small drain on my powers, but luckily he is also small. And I feel like he’ll come in handy in a pinch.”
“Great!” Mel took the little slytheyin out of his container and passed him over to Dahlia. “30 tolkens it is! You’ll want to give him a good name too!”
“Hmm. Well, I don’t have a lot of ideas either.” Mel paused. “Smalls? Skippy? Basil? Noodles? Pickle? Danger? Danger Noodle?” Mel kept on listing random names.
“Hi there! A Guardian, you say? Well, I do have a few animals that you might like! First, I have this raven here.” Mel pointed to a bird stand next to her. “He’s a male and I’ve found that he’s also really good at carrying rolled up messages across far places. He’s about 25 tolkens but I would be willing to go lower. Next, we have this little girlie. She’s a small type of dragon, about as big as your hand and she won’t get any bigger. The cool thing about this girl is she’s disguised like a plant. She can blend into the forest climate. Her species, the planti, is know for hiding in the forest and observing. If you need a little spy, then this planti is perfect for the job! She’s 35 tolkens and the other male planti I have here is 30 tolkens.”
“Hello. I need a young, female pyro-lupine, please. I don’t have a lot of money, so I could work for the beast.” Keonna said. She was trying to be distant, so she wouldn’t show how much she wanted a lupine.
(By the way: pyro-lupine translates to fire-wolf in Latin)
“Hm, and I’d like to learn about the deer seen around here.” Keonna said thoughtfully. The information could be useful, and Rae had said to gather clues.
“Aww yes, the legend of the deer. Legend has it there’s a white deer roaming the woods and if you were to see it, it means good things are coming your way. Last week the baker, Bernard, saw the deer so we posted a sign on our board! Be on the lookout for that deer!”
“A pyro-lupine? You must be a fire Mage then?” Mel smiled. “Pyro-lupines are some of my favorite animals because of the fire-y bond they have with their owners. I do have two in stock, a male and a female. The male, who has a few scars from something I don’t know, is 40 tolkens while the female is 45 tolkens.”
“Hm, no, I’ve got a friend,” Keonna lied. “And, I don’t have that money. Is there any way I could help out, or put the beast under my name while I get the money?”
“Oh, and I have your cake!” Keonna said.
“Of course! I don’t have any jobs right now for you to do, but I can keep the wolf under your name! Oh and thank you very much!” Mel pulled out 6 tolkens and put them in Keonna’s hand.
“Ooh, another person looking for a companion!” Mel clapped her hands. “What role are you? A Guardian, Mage, or Healer? It will help me match you with your life long animal if I know.”
“I’ve got a little red dragon the length of your finger or I’ve got a bioluminescent wolf. I have more options too, just tell me if you want something different or if you are interested in one of those two.”
“The little dragon would cost 10 tolkens. They can’t do much, but they are cute, can fly, and blow little bits of fire. Great mini fire starter I do say so myself! Then the wolf would cost 25 tolkens. How does that sound?”
“Hi there! I’m Mel and I’m so happy you stopped by! A Guardian you say? Well, I’ve got some perfect pets in store for you. First,” Mel pointed to a container. “We have this little girlie. I’m currently waiting for another customer to choose which planti she wants, so I can keep you updated or I can suggest another animal for you if you want!”
“Ooh, I’ve got the perfect thing for you!” Mel reached behind her stall and pulled out a bigger, wooden container. “In this box is a female stone fox. What is so cool about her is only Earth Mages can bond with her species. And she’s like a built in compass; you can ask her about a place and she will lead you there. She is a bit more pricy, coming to a total of 50 tolkens, but I would be willing to go down a bit.”
“Er, hi. Do you have any pets good for traveling long distances?” Gwen glanced down at her coins. Ahh!! She needed to spend some of her coins! Why did she have to be so indecisive.
“I was also wondering, um, what that deer in the board out there is.”
“Hi there!” Mel looked Gwen up and down. “A Guardian? Hmm, well I have a few choices for you. First, we’ve got that planti I heard you said you were interested in. I’ve got two customers in line right now, but if one frees up, I’ll be sure to pass the offer to you! Second, we’ve the bioluminescent wolf. He glows in the dark, almost like the stars, and is a great companion. I’ve also seen a female too. If you are interested in this species, we’ll have to do a special call and if they coming running for you from the woods, you will have a forever bond. If you want some more options, let me know! I’ve got more little baby dragons too.” Mel winked.
“What other creatures do you have? Are there any good for long journeys? I’m also interested in hearing about other dragons.” Gwen smiled just thinking about it.
“Well, I do have the pufferfish cat which is good for long journeys. I only have one, a female. Ever wonder why they are called the pufferfish cat? Well, they are small little kittens, about the size of both your hands. When they are angry, they “blow up” or “pufferish” and get bigger to about the size of a normal feline cat. (Bobcat, lion size.) So technically, you can ride it when you are tired or have it fight for you. But they have to be really mad to “blow up.”
I also have this little, tiny red species of dragon, about the length of your finger. They can’t do much, but they are cute, can fly, and blow little bits of fire. Great mini fire starter I do say so myself!”
Gwen thought about the dragon. She really wanted one, but the group already had a fire mage so it wasn’t sensible. The pufferfish cat sounded awesome, but Gwen wasn’t the type to make people angry, so she decided to ask, “Do you have any mythical dogs? Or maybe an animal who has a good sense of direction?” Gwen thought about the countless times she had gotten lost.
Gwen thought about the price of all of the other animals and decided that it would be worth it for the monkey, “Okay, I’ll take him”
Gwen exchanged the money and let her new pet on her shoulder, “I’ll have to come up with a good name for you, little guy.”
“Gwen’s ears perked, “I overheard some things about planti being sold here? I would love to negotiate for one!”
Gwen had always loved dragons, and the fact that she might be able to get one was thrilling!
“Do I get one? Do I not get one? Do I get one? Do I not- Gah!” Elle bounced on the balls of her feet. “Hullo, I am a Guardian, and I am looking for a small creature.”
She looked at the tolkens she had and asked hopefully, “I want to spend 20 tolkens… Do you think that is possible?”
“Crystal Caves? Well, I don’t know anything except that the Stone Fox can guide you to wherever you need to go. Kinda like a compass animal. Oh and I’m sure Pyra will catch things herself in the woods, but if you want to feed her, find some sort of meat from an animal.” Mel clutched her stand. “Not any of my animals though.”
Manasi turned toward Keonna with a smile on a face. Not a pleasant sort of smile.
“The Stone Fox is exactly what I’m eyeing, Keonna… But, I’m not entirely sure Mel’s gonna reduce the price. Fifty tolkens is just too much to pay, don’t you think?”
She looked Keonna in the eye, which was a little difficult, considering that she appeared to be at least seventeen feet tall.
“So, if Mel’s acting a little tough, you can just…” Manasi gesticulated wildly, mimed explosions with her hands and made little funny little “boom-boom” sounds.
Her face turned serious after a second. “But not something too much, okay? We’re not looking to hurt anyone. Just to scare Mel a little.”
(Also hello I’m keeping my Stone Fox I don’t know if Manasi likes animals but I sure as hell do XD XD you can borrow it though also sorry for the lack of punctuation in this whole sentence)
“Hello! I do have two fennec foxes here with me today that are great for Healers. They are both female and they will make a type of call when someone is hurt. They are great for the battlefield because not only will they signal you when someone is injured, but they can run fast therefore avoiding attackers.”
“Hey… do you have any exotic creatures that I might be interested in?” Cassie asked with a friendly smile. She had 100 tolkens to spend, though she wouldn’t tell the person in charge that, and she figured it would be a good idea to get a creature.
“Yes! I’ve got a pufferfish cat, a slytheyin (great for Water Mages), a tiny red dragon the length of your finger and more! Anything sound interesting? Or I can give you more options too!”
“Excuse me, Mel. How many more fennec foxes do you have left? Or what other animals do you have for healers?” Kyra wondered what other animals there were.
